These Jewish growth opportunities include classes, workshops, Jewish singles’ events and more. West Rogers Park Community Eruv Virtual Jewish Chicago VJC is a community service web project sponsored by four well-known Chicago area organizations: The Chicago Jewish News, The Dawn R. Schuman Institute for Jewish Learning, The Greater Chicago Jewish Folk Arts Festival, and Rosenblum's World of Judaica. Each contributes content directly to VJC and through its own site. World of Chesed A site with a Soul Chevra Kadisha of Chicago - the Jewish Sacred Society The functions of this volunteer organization are to perform a Tahara (ritual washing and dressing) to any Jew who complies with a halachically correct funeral, provide a Sefer Torah with a portable Aron for the house of mourning, furnish special Shiva chairs for the mourners to sit on, available 24 hours a day to guide a family in obtaining the proper funeral, including preventing autopsies, and to assist families with special needs who are unable to obtain a proper funeral without delay. Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies Spertus invites people of all ages and backgrounds to explore the multifaceted Jewish experience. Through its innovative public programming, exhibitions, collections, research facilities and degree programs, Spertus inspires learning, serves diverse communities and fosters understanding for Jews and people of all faiths, locally, regionally and around the world.
