Anshe Tikvah
- Name of Congregation: Anshe Tikvah (which is Hebrew for "People of Hope").
- Religious Affiliation: Jewish (not currently affiliated with any official movement within Judaism, although those familiar with liberal branches such as Reform, Conservative or Reconstructionist will find services meaningful).
- School held at Hawthorne School in Wheeling; worship services held at Hawthorne School, 200 Glendale, Wheeling. Also serves families in Buffalo Grove, Palatine, Vernon Hills, Long Grove and Round Lake.Anshe Tikvah was founded in 2005.
- Size of Congregation: 80 families.
- Spiritual Leaders: Rob Jury, cantorial soloist.
- Schedule of Services: Summer Shabbat services are Friday evenings at 6:30 p.m. with pre-service wine and cheese reception beginning at 6 p.m. Go to www.anshetikvah.org for times and locations.
- Largest Turnout: 900 people during High Holy Days.
- Biggest Wish-List Items: world peace. We are working to acquire a permanent worship and school facility.
- Biggest Issue Facing the Congregation: Finding time to participate in all of the programming offered at Anshe Tikvah.
- Most Memorable Services: Services are all memorable for they are family-friendly for people of all ages and contain a Torah dialogue and discussion.
- Proudest Moment: Celebrating Purim with residents of Brentwood Health Care Center brought together children of all ages and increased joy in the world. We also had a great turn-out (over half of the congregation) for Israel Solidarity Day in May.
- A volunteer you'd like to highlight: Joan and Charles Schwartz and their children Sean, Jeremy and Ryan, who work tirelessly to make the clubhouse at Park West a holy space.
